Scholarships
The Rappahannock Count Garden Club will once again offer the Francis J. Leonard Memorial Scholarship to a senior in Rappahannock County for the purpose of continuing his or her education.
A grant of $1,500 will be awarded to a student enrolling in a four year college or university — $1,000 will be given the first year, and $500 in the second year.
An applicant must be a resident of Rappahannock County, a member of this year’s graduating class (home schooled or other schools), be accepted at an accredited four year school, have a need for financial assistance, and be recommended by two nonrelated residents of Rappahannock County.
The Rappahannock Garden Club will also offer a $1,000 scholarship grant in memory of Mary P. Marocchi.
This grant was given by Rear Admiral J. Marocchi and family. The scholarship grant is being offered to a senior in Rappahannock County who is selecting a career in nursing or some other area of medicine.
In order to receive this scholarship, the recipient must be a resident of Rappahannock County, a member of this year’s graduating class (home schooled or other schools), be accepted at an accredited four year college or university, have a need for financial assistance and be recommended by two non-related residents of Rappahannock County.
Applications for the scholarships are available at the guidance department of the Rappahannock County High School or from Mrs. Mary Priest at 937-4072.
The deadline for returning the applications to the guidance department of the Rappahannock County High School is Jday 18, 2004.
