Students at the Rappahannock County Elementary school walked away with many of the top prizes at James Madison University's (JMU's) GEM (Global Entrepreneurial Market) Fair that was held on June 2.
The fair is funded by the Ewing Marion Kaufmann Foundation of Kansas City. It is the culmination of a year-long economics education program for elementary school students, run through JMU’s Center for Economic Education. Students from each participating school set up “mini-societies” or markets. Within these, they created entrepreneurial companies with actual products. They traded
