Grand performance
Renowned pianist, Emanuel Ax, performed brilliantly at a recent concert at the Castleton Theatre which is winding down its spring season of benefit concerts for the Chateauville Foundation. Rappahannock audiences were treated last week to a rousing recital of Chopin and Beethoven by Emanuel Ax, one of the world’s most distinguished piano virtuosos. Devoted to chamber music, Ax often appears with major symphony orchestras and performs recitals in concert halls worldwide. This coming Sunday afternoon, guests at the Chateauville Foundation’s last benefit performance before the summer break will be entertained by an acclaimed British duo, Jamie Walton and Daniel Grimwood. Walton is considered one of the best young cellists in concert today and will be joined by Grimwood, another notable young British star of the concert stage, playing the piano. The program will include a cello sonata by Benjamin Britten and several sonatas by Chopin and Rachmaninoff.
