The Pearsons have always been into racing in all forms, and are NASCAR fans. NASCAR has partnered with the All American Soap Box Derby (AASBD) since 2002 as part of its youth initiative. So when county Derby coordinator Tom Pellikan approached the Pearsons, Tom and Bob were immediately interested.
Tom, being smaller and lighter, is the driver and is in the eighth grade. He's a budding troubadour; in the school band, and learning a bit of guitar.
