The troop enjoyed a ‘Tolar Swim” at 0600 one morning, camping outside their campsite on “outpost” one night, and dinner with their parents in the campsite Friday evening, the incentive for all coming by way of the requirements for the award.
The scoutmasters received benefits as well, with Assistant Scoutmaster Charley Carroll winning the Shellaleigh Golf tournament with his handmade wooden club. And a certain “corporally challenged” scoutmaster once again made “greater” men cry by winning the belly flop contest - judged mostly by hue, rather than style.
In addition to the lake, camp also offers natural rock outcroppings suitable for rock climbing instruction. Star Scout Ethan Gould earned the Climbing merit badge by climbing three different routes, by rappelling down one face, and by safely belaying his fellow students up and down their climbs and rappels.
