me to check my credit reports, because someone was using my information to fraudulently obtain credit cards.
That was the beginning of the nightmare. I won’t bore you by recounting the hundreds of hours I spent on the phone, writing letters, obtaining affidavits, etc., etc. It shall suffice to tell you that the effort to clear my financial record was worse than having your wisdom teeth pulled with no joy juice.
Years later....
A few months ago I received a free credit report from one of the credit reporting agencies as a result of someone’s class action suit against an insurance company. On that report was new information, from 2005, about a loan that someone had secured in my name from a lending institution in California, in the amount of $43,000.00.
I called that particular reporting agency, and after two days of trying, was able to speak to a real person. I told them about the mistake, and would they please investigate and take it off my record. They said they would investigate.
A week ago I got an “updated” credit report, which still shbwed the adverse and incorrect information, and I got a letter from the reporting company
