“Match Point” is Woody Allen’s best movie in years. Taking place in London with British actors and dark humor, Allen writes and directs with a newfound energy. In “Match Point” he works in a foreign country for the first time and looks into tragic events for philosophical understanding. The Rappahannock Association for the Arts and Community is showing this film at the Theatre on Gay Street, Washington, VA, Friday, August 18, 8 p.m.
August 20: Historic Tour of the
Engham House Circa 1858
The Historic Tour and Open House will be on Sunday, August 20, 1 to 5 pm with the first tour at 1:30 focusing on James Arthur Engham, the man, inventor, entrepreneur and the house he built here at 31 Main Street. The 3:30 tour will include ghost stories. I am so pleased that Mr. James Russell, local author and grandson of Mr. Engham will keep us entertained with stories of his grandfather, and his great grandmother, Sister Carolyn, whom he cared for right here and wrote about in his first book, “Beyond the Rim”. Davette Leonard who created the illustrations for Mr. Russell’s second book, “Resting Rock” will be on hand to sign your book.
