Dorothy S. Artz

Amissville resident

On August 13, 2006, Dorothy S. (Stewart) Artz, 81, a former resident of Amissville, died at her daughter’s home in Herndon, VA.

She was bom January 15, 1925 in Mt. Airy, NC. and was raised in Middletown, VA, where she was a 1943 graduate of Middletown High School.

Her fondest memories were of her youth growing up with older brothers and sisters around her father’s store where she frequently danced with many of Strasburg’s youth. She was veiy close to her daughter’s family, who greatly appreciated her stories and childhood memories. Dorothy will be greatly missed, was loved deeply and will be remembered as one of Elvis Presley’s greatest fans.

Mrs. Artz was predeceased by her husband, Harold H. Artz, Sr., who died in November 2001.

She is survived by her daughter, Deborah King and son-in-law, Buddy; grandson Michael King and his wife, Karen of Amissville, and granddaughter Michelle King and her husband Marco of Sterling, a son, Harold H. Artz, Jr. and his wife Bridget of Stephens City, VA; three grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at Culpeper National Cemeteiy on Friday August 18, at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
