A light proposal
Council member Claudia Mitchell spoke to the board concerning the town street lamps. She proposed replacing the fixtures to use a different kind of bulb.
She reported that the T-l high pressure lamps in the current street lights have had a rapid blow out rate. “I don’t think we have ever had them all burning at the same time,” she said.
Mitchell stated that new lamps would provide more consistent, efficient lighting, which would save the town money in the long term. “The problem with this proposal is that the lamp might be brighter than the current ones,” she said, “I know some people think that we have too much light already, and some citizens think that we need more fight.”
Mitchell said that Clerk of the Circuit Court, Diane Bruce, had volunteered to help the town gather information about other lighting options.
Following Mitchell’s request, the Council approved a measure delegating Bruce to research the issue.
