The Town Planning Commission discussed Washington’s proposed annexation of Piedmont avenue for the first time during their Monday meeting.
The Town Planning Commission is now looking into the possibility of expanding the town borders beyond the existing town boundaries thus including those residents of Piedmont Avenue who have requested to be included in Washington.
The proposal was made to the town council after William and Jessica Metcalfe collected signatures from Piedmont Avenue property owners in June. The citizens group of about thirteen people wants the town to extend its borders in order to include their property in the town boundaries.
The Metcalfes hired former Tbwn Attorney Doug Baumgardner to introduce the proposal to the Tbwn Council in June.
“Piedmont Avenue looks like Washington, it’s contiguous with Washington, and the features of the individual , properties are consistent with the rest of the town,” Baumgardner said during the June meeting, “It suggests to the beholder that it is part of the town.”
The proposal was referred by the Tbwn Council to the Tbwn Planning Commission to make a recommendation.
