Classical piano
recital Oct. 7
Katarzyna Marzec and Michael Tsalka are distinguished pianists who received their early music training in Poland and in Israel. They will give a recital of classical piano music at the Theatre at Washington, Virginia, on Saturday, October 7 at 8 p.m.
Music by Schubert, Chopin, Scarlatti, Mozart, Brahms, Poulenc and others make up the program. Some of the works were written as piano solos, and each of the pianists plays some solos. But the composers also wrote works for “piano four hands.” This music by these famous composers is rarely performed but it has become part of the Marzec-Tsalka Duo repertoire.
The Marzec-Tsalka Piano Duo was formed in 2004 by the versatile and accomplished musicians, who have performed as soloists and chamber musicians throughout Europe, the ! Americas, Japan, and elsewhere. This will be their second concert at the Theatre in Little Washington. Since they were last here a year ago, they have appeared at the Osaka Chamber Music Festival in Japan, given recitals in New York and Philadelphia, and made their first joint recording for radio.
Tickets for the concert at the Theatre on October 7 are $20 for adults and $5 for students 18 and under. Tb make reservations, or to obtain a copy of the Theatre’s schedule for the fall season, phone 675-1253 or email TheatreVA@aol.com
