The team was able to make adjustments on defense and expose holes in the offense. “We were surprised to see such a strong team this year but the girls have a lot of confidence, said Nieters proudly. “We went from a hard hitting offense, to a targeted offense.” The two subsequent match scores were 23-18 and 25-20.

Last Thursday, the Lady Panthers had a wakeup call as they lost the first match of the season against Page County.

This was the first time that the Panthers have lost a match all season. “I don’t think at any point the girls were concerned that we weren’t going to win,” said Nieters, “But we definitely realized that we couldn’t slack.” In spite of the rough start, the girls were able to win that game 3-1.

During the previous week the team also won against the Stonewall Jackson Generals making it a second victory against that team. The match scores for that game were 25-21, 25-22
