A night in
St. Petersburg
This Saturday, September 30 at 8 p.m., the St. Petersburg Trio bring their authentic Russian music instruments, balalaika, domra, and bayan, to the Theatre on Gay Street.
The Trio was formed in 1992 when its members graduated from Russia’s eminent musical conservatory, the Rimsky Korsakov Conservatory in St. Petersburg.
The concert will include Russian folk music, in which the Trio will be joined by soprano Anya Titova who has delighted Theatre audiences in the past.
The concert also includes some popular and lively classical music arranged for the Trio’s instruments — for example, a Slavonic Dance by Dvorak, polkas and a waltz by Strauss, a Hungarian Dance by Brahms, and even some music by Scott Joplin.
Tickets are $20 for adults and $5 for students 18 and under.
