Position available with Parks, Recreation, and Community Services at the Areola Community Center. Position assists the Center Manager in daily center operations. Oversees and supervises facility customers, develops and implements effective programming for the Center, ensures quality and diverse programs. Ensures projected revenues are met. Recruits, interviews, and recommends for hire all fee class instructors and supervises their performance. Promotes facility programs throughout the community and handles customer concerns. Supervises staff and manages center operations in the absence of the Center Manager. Manages automated tracking and reporting of registrations, payments, and budgets. Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Recreation or related field, and 2 years related work experience administering and supervising community and group recreational programs. Supervisory experience is required. Previous experience with an automated registration system also preferred. First Aid, Adult/ Infant/Child CPR. and current TB Test required prior to beginning work. Successful candidate will undergo criminal background, CPS and DMV check. Possession of valid driver's license required.

Community Center Manager

Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Services is currently seeking qualified applicants for the Sterling Community Center Manager position. The Sterling Community Center has served a culturally and economically diverse community for over thirty years Center Manager oversees planning and implementation of classes and special events and evaluates programs to serve a diverse population. Programs include a large fee class program for all age groups: adventure, sports, fine and performing arts, after school programs, summer camps, contractual classes, camps, and local and regional special events. Assesses community interests and recreational trends for program expansion Supervises 8 staff, which includes full-time, part-time, and temporary staff to cover 7-day/wk operation. Coordinates and manages the community use of facilities for meetings and community events. Meets revenue projections and manages Center operating budget. Provides leadership and ensures the center s goals are consistent with overall County priorities and objectives. Oversees facility maintenance to ensure customer safety and satisfaction, for an 11,500 square foot facility, which includes: gymnasium, four program rooms, offices, park/playground and picnic pavilion Serves as liaison to an Advisory Board and various advisory groups, committees, and organizations The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills with strong public speaking experience and demonstrate a proven track record in successful staff development and program management. Strong communication, customer service, and computer skills are essential for successful candidate Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelors degree in Recreation or related field, with 3 years related work experience administering and supervising community and group recreational programs which must include at least 1 year of supervisory experience.
