not have sex with that woman” sound like George Washington and the Cherry Tree.
Hubris. It’ll gitcha every time.
Now comes the Jewish business. A reporter says that it has been written in the press that George’s granddad is Jewish. What’s with that, she says. How come you never mentioned that in all these years? George flips out. His supporters boo. He says he has never heard that before. Two days later, he speaks with pride of his Jewish heritage. Which is it?
He should be proud of his Jewish heritage. Great race of folks. I’m got some of that myself, a man named Jacobs from Charleston back in the nineteenth century. It fits in great with my Tuscarora blood, my Welsh blood, my Irish blood, my French Huguenot blood, and my just good ol’ redneck blood. One branch of the family was simply put down on the census for decades as “non-white.” The Feds couldn’t figure out what the hell we were, but they were certain we weren’t “white folks.” I’m more of a mix than my old dog Willie. It doesn’t matter, does it? And if it doesn’t matter, why hasn’t George ever spoken of it with pride before? Beats the hell out of me.
Now, about this “Confederate” flag business. As some of you may know, I am a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. I am also a life member of the NAACP. The symbols of the Confederacy have been misused by fools and bigots for over a hundred years, and nothing pisses off a thoughtful descendant of the “Lost Cause” more than a California twerp like Allen. using the Cross of St. Andrew flag as a symbol of whatever he thought it *
