Together, we analyze an existing sofa they like (or don’t like) and determine what seat depth and back height works for them and others'in their family. Custom sofas can be made in various lengths. Details like whether the cushions on the back will be loose or attached, and whether they like one, two or three seat cushions will be decided upon. Will the cushions be boxed ! or not? Will there be tufts and buttons on the back, channels, or simply straight lines? We also select the arm style,! of which there are many, and we design the look of the base of the sofa; whether it will !be skirted or have feet or be ms|de with a completely upholstered base. If feet or. legs are preferred we choose a finish (stained, painted, or metal) that will work well with the other furniture in the room.; If a skirt is chosen, will the fabric chosen perform well as a skirt, and should the skirt be 6 inches, 9 inches or more? We review the proportions of the room, the scale of other furniture that will co-exist in the room, and create this new piece in a way that enhances already existing pieces. This all sounds very overwhelming, but you can be guided through this process very easily by an interior designer. The additional advantage is that you will be working in the comfort and convenience of your own home, where visualizing each element becomes more relevant.
