Wakefield classes and clubs will offer food and sponsor booths, games, and activities for all ages to raise money for various projects and field trips that will take place throughout the year. There will also be a yard sale for WCDS families. Bring your quarters, and prepare to spend several hours enjoying a beautiful fall day in the Shenandoah Valley, while at the same time giving to several good causes!

Gold Cup Races

The International Gold Cup is pleased to announce that its pre-race entertainment for the 69th running of the International Gold Cup on Saturday, October 21st . Festivities include Sheila C. Johnson performing the National Anthem, the United States Navy Parachute Team , the “Leap Frogs,” and terrier races making this one of the premiere outdoor fall events in the Washington metro market.

General admission car passes are $55 in advance and $65 week of race. A car pass admits one vehicle and six occupants. Tickets, reserved parking and hospitality tents are now available at www.vagoldcup.com or call the Virginia Gold Cup Association at (540) 3472612 for more information on how to order. Advance purchase of tickets is recommended. Children 12 years of age and younger are admitted free with an adult.

An introduction to the world of frame drums on Saturday, October 21, at Sage, in the Rappahannock Wellness Center, 11576D Lee Hwy, Sperryville. Cost $25. No experience is necessary for this workshop, which is designed ■ for mature teens and adults. Instruments are provided. Register early as space is limited. Dried Rower and Home Tour

Save the date and help celebrate the 50th Annual Trinity Episcopal Dried Flower and Home Tour. This event, the sole fund raiser of the women of the parish, has been a part of the county’s autumn festivities since 1956. Homes on the tour this year are “Jessamine Hill” in Washington, “Seaway” outside of Flint Hill, and “Bruton” in Castleton. Look for ticket information as the weekend draws closer.
