Cure for Cantor
Independent candidate for the District 7 Congressional seat Brad Blanton walked through Rappahannock County on Thursday, September 21. The 66-year-old Page County psychotherapist plans to walk across the entire 7th district to spread the word of his candidacy. “It’s time that Virginians pulled their heads out of their a—ssaid the fiery Blanton, who was interviewed as he walked down Route 522, between Sperryville and Culpeper. Blanton is running on a platform of election reform, including full public financing of elections, and it doesn’t take much to get him going on the subject of corruption in government. “I am completely opposed to the war in Iraq. It’s a conspiracy of the military industrial complex, and the whole damn system is shot to hell,” said Blanton. On his walk to Richmond, Blanton wears a sign on his back proclaiming himself as “a cure for Cantor'’ referring to incumbent District 7 Representative Republican Eric Cantor. “Congress is just pathetic. We need an uprising, independent of corporate controlled media,” said Blanton. Besides opposing the war in Iraq, and supporting election reform, Blanton is also concerned about senior citizens. “I’m 66 years old, and I will represent senior citizens. I will get the multinational corporations off their backs,” said Blanton.
