Ms. Carol Lucking is the local coordinator for the Aspect Foundation. We are pleased to have these two young people as students of Hearthstone and members of the Rappahannock County community for the upcoming year. Welcome Mr. Konick!
Hearthstone School would also like to welcome Jacob Konick to the school. Mr. Konick, who has a bachelor’s degree from Reed College in Oregon, will be teaching ancient, U.S. and world history, and mathematics to the high school classes.
Field Trip
The Nursery/Kindergarten through third grades took a field trip to Sunnyside Farms this past week to pick apples. The third grade will be drying apples for winter use, while other classes will make apple cobbler, apple sauce and apple cider. A big thank you to Sunnyside Farms for allowing our students to come and pick apples at the farm once again.
First fundraiser
Hearthstone’s first fundraiser of the year is now underway. Orders will be taken for beautiful fall bulbs from the Dutch company Van Bourgoundien, until October 13. This company, founded in 1983, provides top quality bulbs and offers a fundraising program for schools, which keep 50% of all sales. The fall selection of bulbs can be viewed on the fundraising page of the Van Bourgondien website at httpyAvww.dutchbulbs.com. Please call the school office at 540-987-9212 if you would like to purchase bulbs for your garden.
Fairy tales
Hearthstone will hold its Annual Faiiy Tale Walk on Friday, October 27 beginning at 7 p.m. This is a magical and well-loved event for children, as Hearthstone parents, students and teachers reenact fairy tales. All members of the community are invited to attend.
