Did anyone see the Moon Illusion on Saturday night?

As I was outside on Saturday, June 30 after dark, looking around in the sky as I usually do with my telescope, I Saw this giant mnr>n rising in the east. The more I looked at it the more I was wondering why it seemed so huge. It looked like Earth’s moon with the usual craters, but something was wrong. I said to myself that this mocm was inflated. It’ was so big! Then I realized that I just experienced the Moon Illusion.

The full moon hung lower in the sky than any other full moon of 2007, so the Moon Illusion was strong.

Guess some are wondering what makes the moon so low?

The sun and full moon he on opposite sides of the sky. They are like a see-saw: when one is high, the other is low. Because the summer solstice was just last week (June 21), the sun is near its highest point in the northern skies.
