state - Williams posted a 7-23 record over the last three seasons. While his record was by no means mind-boggling, Williams has a proven track record of making his teams better.
“At Holston we got better each year,” Williams said. “When I started we were getting beat by 30 or 40 points per game, but last year we could have easily been a .500 team, we just let games get away in the fourth quarter.”
With only a four weeks before the start of fall football practices, Williams faces an uphill battle his first year.
“My main concern right now is assembling a coaching staff that will work well with our kids,” said Williams, who will also serve as a physical education teacher at RCHS. “But with the change in schedule (RCHS) will play more independent teams and six homes games in 2007) and with a little more participation, I think it’s feasible for us to be a .500 team, if not better.”
