“It’s not giving people a chance to know about it,” she said. “I feel like it’s just being shoved through and it makes me mad.”
Junk, a former member of the County Planning Commission, agreed. “Some of these things that come up need more time for people to consider,” he said.
Sal to ns tall also complained about limiting the time citizens can speak at planning commission and Board of Supervisors public hearings. She said people deserve to be heard if they take the time to attend a county meeting.
Cordani said more citizens need to attend meetings to voice opposition to tax increases. Being there in person is more influential than phone calls and letters, he said.
“We need to gather people and when the meetings come up, that’s when we need to have a show of force,” he said.
Junk said he sees that already beginning to happen at county government meetings.
“There are more people dissatisfied with things that are going on,” he said.
The group will meet again at 7 p.m. on Dec. 5 at the library. Coincidentally, Dec. 5 is the day that payments for local property taxes are due.
