Essay contest
announced
The United Daughters of the Confederacy, Culpeper Chapter #73, cordially invite the students of Rappahannock County to participate in their annual essay contest.
The format for this contest has changed. For lower grades there is a coloring/drawing contest, and upper grades will have an essay format.
There is a category for high school-, middle- and elementaryage students. Private and home schooled students are encouraged to enter as well.
Prizes will be awarded for each grade category: 1-2, 3-5, 68,9-12.
Prizes are: $50 for first place, $35 for second and $25 for third.
If you have an interest in history, a copy of the essay rules and checklist may be obtained through the Rappahannock County Public Schools, Wakefield County Day School, Hearthstone School, and the Rappahannock County Public Library.
The deadline for the essay is April 15,2008.

Culpeper students: 1st place - 4th grade Emma' Barnhart; 2nd place - 4th grade Abbey Thompson. Honorable Mention: Dillon Kincaid, Michael Villagomez, Erin Rastall, Ashby Berry, Taylor Dawson, Jacob Low den, Paul Asero and Dominic Piwers.
