Police Briefs Liberty student sentenced for bomb possession Mark David Uhl, of Amissville, was sentenced to two years in prison Tuesday for possession of an unregistered explosive device, according to The Lynchburg News and Advance. He also received three years of probation and is required to meet with a mental-health counselor. Uhl, a 19-year-old freshman at Liberty University, was arrested May 21 after Campbell County authorities found bombs in the trunk of his car the night before the Rev. Jerry Falwell’s funeral at the university. The state police described the bombs as “homemade napalm.” At the time of Uhl’s arrest, ABC News reported that he had made the bombs to prevent protesters from disrupting Falwell’s funeral. In August, Uhl pleaded guilty to the offense, which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison. Intoxicated pedestrian Daniel T. McMahon, of 381 Swindler Hollow Road in Sperryville, was arrested Nov. 5 for being drunk in public. Rappahannock County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Daniel Coffey arrested McMahon after a woman called the RCSO around 3:30 p.m. to complain that the 51-year-old was on her porch and she wanted him off her property. Break-in at Early’s A burglary at Early’s Carpet in Amissville was reported to the sheriff’s office around 8:30 a.m. on Nov. 7. According to the sheriff’s report, $200 was taken from the store’s cash register and $17 was taken from a money bag. The perpetrator or perpetrators appear to have broken in through the front door.
