November is National Hospice Month. Throughout November hospices nationwide are offering a variety of programs and activities to recognize the dedication of hospice professionals and volunteers and to increase awareness of hospice care. In his proclamation issued from the White House, President Bush declared “One of America’s greatest values is compassion, and our country is blessed by all those who dedicate themselves to caring for others. During National Hospice Month, we recognize the dedicated professionals and volunteers who provide love and comfort to those who are terminally ill.” He continued that “Our Nation is committed to helping ensure that citizens with terminal illness and their families receive the assistance they need. We believe in the dignity and worth of every person at every stage of life, and hospice care brings support and comfort to those in need.”
In Rappahannock County, Hospice of the Rapidan, the largest hQspice serving all of Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison, Orange and. Rappahannock Counties, is recognizing National Hospice Month by donating books about end-oflife issues to area libraries, as it has been its tradition.
