Cuter cut the deficit to 19-18. After a point by Lancaster's TVeasha Harvey, the Panthers rallied to tie the game at 20-20 on a Hutcheson block.
Hutcheson’s block gave the Lady Panthers control of the serve, and from there, Kritter closed out the match with six straight service points, as the Lady Panthers earned a 25-21 win and a trip back to Richmond for . the VHSL Group A State Volleyball Tournament SemiFinals.
Kritter shattered the school record with 36 kills, breaking the previous mark she set earlier this year of 24 kills.
"Elena was awesome tonight,’ senior Elvira Yanez said. “She’s what makes this team tick. We wouldn’t be nearly as good without her.”
The Lady Panthers will meet a familiar foe in the state semifinals on Friday.
“Tin so excited,” Kritter said afterwards. "We’re looking forward to a rematch with Gate City. We want revenge. Our goal all along has been to win a state championship, now we’re one step closer.”
