featured at ‘Royal’ show
The “World Famous Lipizzaner Stallions" return to George Mason's Patriot Center Nov. 24 and 25.
Using the same elegant, highly trained breed of horses found at the famed Spanish Riding School in Vienna, Austria, the World Famous show travels the nation providing entertainment and education in the world of high school dressage and mounted military maneuvers.
Many of the “airs above the ground” that make the powerful, compact breed famous are included in the performances.
The leaps and kicks were once used by mounted cavalry officers to protect and assault on the battlefield.
The Disney movie, “The Miracle of the White Stallions," depicting Gen. George Patton saving the famous breed from certain slaughter at the hands of invading Nazis, created a wide interest in the ancient breed.
Shows are at 2 and 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 24, and at 2 p.m. on Nov. 25.
