Jason LeMountain will host a horse logging demonstration from 124 p.m. Saturday Nov. 17 at Locust Hill Farm in Middleburg. LeMountain and his teams of Suffolk Punch horses will demonstrate low-impact log extraction. There will be a discussion of selective forestry The event is free to attend. Local Olympic horse retires
After an illustrious career which includes three victories at the Rolex Kentucky CCI****, team gold at the 2002 World Equestrian Games, team bronze and individual silver at the 2004 Olympics, Iinda Wachtmeister's Winsome Adante haa been retired.
Wachtmeister is a native ofWarrenton. Kim Severson trains and rides from Wachtmeister's Plain Dealing Farm in Scottsville.
“It was a hard decision but it was also an easy decision,” said Wachtmeister “He had been in a stall for a long tinw because of a previous injury, and he wouldn’t have been ready for the Olympics. He needed to go out in the field and live the rest of his life. We had always hoped he would go to the Olympics again, but Tm so proud of what he has accomplished. I never dreamed that my family would get to go to the Olympics because of him ”
The 14-year-old English Thoroughbred sustained an iqjury to the suspensory ligament in a hind leg.
