measure. Having finished this, we went to our tents to get our clothes for the shakedown at the camp. Our leader and Ranger, Jerry Thatcher, showed us how to tie the diamond hitch on our packs and told us the bare essentials to take on our hike. It is amazing how little you had to take for the trip. As soon as this was over, we ate lunch and set out on our way. Our destination was Olympia Camp where we would spend two nights. Jerry would stay with us for three days. We drove by bus to the road leading to Olympia, where we were let off. From there we walked the 1 1/2 miles to the camp. The distance was covered in a short time and we set up camp.
