75 minutes. Upon arriving, we set up camp and prepared for lunch. The water had to be drawn from the river and purified before it could be drunk or used in cooking. After lunch some guys took part in a fly tying courge again while others stayed at the camp. Meanwhile, it started raining and got some of the tents wet but did not damage any. That night some of the boys attended Protestant church services; the others prepared dinner. The dinner was delicious and fitting for the occasion.

In preparation for the next day's hike, all the boys turned in to get as much sleep as they could.

August 5, 1963 -- This morning we arose at 5:00. We had a long hike ahead of us and wanted to get started around 7:00. We prepared breakfast and ate quickly. But due to inspection and other things we didn’t get started until 8:00. Hiking all the way was rough and carrying our food in boxes
