The services of the Plant Disease Clinic in the V. P. I. Department of Plant Pathology, and Physiology are available to all fruit growers. For best service and the efficient use of time, PLEASE READ AND OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS FOR COL - LECTING AND PACKING FRUIT DISEASED SPECIMENS:
1. Diseased fruit specimens sent to the clinic should be free of excess moisture and placed in a sturdy container or mailing tube. To prevent excess drying, root specimens should be put in a plastic bag before they are placed in a container. Samples mailed in an envelope are easily crush ed and become worthless for disease indentification.
2. Be sure the specimen contains some healthy tissue as well as diseased material. Diseased organisms are more easily Identified in the area adjacent to the diseased tissue.
