had lunch. After lunch we went on for about 5 hours and then sighted Rayado. There tfas a mutual feeling among us all during the hike. That was that there would be no end to the canyon which we were traveling in. The hike was the longest 6 1/2 miles we have ever hiked. It really was a relief to> see Rayado. When we reached the camp we were assigned to a campsite about a mile from the main camp. Here we set up our tents and prepared supper. Everyone was tired and supper tasted good. Thli$fst of t*ie time was spenlH taking showers and wash nig clothes. Finally, everyone went to sleep.
August 6, 1963 — Today we set off for our new camp. Lost Cabin. Lost Cabin was only a mile and a half away. We started out with full packs and two food boxes. After traveling a while we came to a mountain. The mountain was very steep and it took us about 45 minutes to climb it and to arrive at Lost Cabin. The hike though short, was very rough. When we arrived in Lost Cabin, we were surprized at the beauty of the camp. There were aspen trees,pine,spruce, and juniper trees all around. There were even some little pools in the creek in which there were some rainbow trout. There was even a place where the water was pure enough to drink without having to be purified. All in all, it was a simply beautiful campsite. After setting up the tents,
