87th birthday
Mrs. Edgar Pullen of Washington celebrated her 87th birthday Friday at her home when she was surprised by her family with a birthday cake bearing 87 candles. Joining Mrs. Pullen were her daughter, Mrs. Wade Pullen and her granddaughters, Mrs. Douglas Bywaters of Flint Hill and Mrs. Alice Virginia Butler of Front Royal, and another daughter, Mrs. J.E. Ellmore of Amissville. “It was such a pleasant surprise, and I certainly did enjoy it,” said Mrs. Pullen.□

Weather statistics from Big Meadows in Shenandoah National Park indicate that the minimum temperature during November was 15 degrees and the maximum was 67. Rainfall recorded was 1.87 inches.
Visitation in the Park during November was much higher than a year ago with the increase 29.1%. Tlie year’s total visitors was 2, 616,400 as compared to the 1974 total of 2,157,000. This is a 21.3% increase.□
