FIRE, RESCUE
Washington Rescue Squad answered three calls. December 3the unit responded to a wreck on 211 services were not needed; December 6 Jim Dwyer of Gid Brown Hollow was taken to the Rappahannock Clinic and then to Warren Memorial; December 7 Fred T. Settle was carried from Hitts Garage on Route 729 to Fauquier Hospital. □
WRECKS
The slaughter of three head of cattle occurred last Wednesday night on Route 211 east of Massies Corner in traffic collisions. The animals were owned by Tom Lee, and had gotten into the highway. One was struck in the westbound land and two in the eastbound. A motorist from California, one from Luray and a local man, Capt. George Sharp, were involved, according to Trooper C.A. Moore.
A cow was killed on Route 729 December 6 by Jack Weaver of Culpeper. According to Trooper R.A. Baines, Weaver was driving a 74 Buick to which damage was estimated at $350. □

bridge contracted
Replacement of another irontruss bridge in the area was assured in an announcement from the Highway Department that a contract has been awarded for the new spen. span.
A $343,320 contact awarded Wilkins Construction Co., Inc., of Amhert, is for construction of a 191 - foot long, two-lane bridge over the Rappahannock River and .5 of a mile of approach “on an improved alignement” on Route 802 between Jeffersonton and Turnbull.□
