In response to that threat, the Sperryville Community Group was organized and plans were made for a Sperryville sewer system. The State Water control Board had allowed Sperryville to pursue a “unique solution,” a community septic field, since Sperryville’s situation was unusual. The Sperryville sewer system only has to' take care of the houses and businesses already there, not provide for more development. County, state and federal ordinances now prohibit further development in a flood plain. And the entire village of Sperryville is in a flood plain. It’s a “no growth” system, Luke said.
Everybody he knew of wanted the sewer system, Luke said, since the alternative is the end of the Sperryville business district. The Health Department has agreed to review and renew those business permits every six months, as long as Sperryville continues to work
