Several major changes have recently been made in the 1978 Wheat and Feed Grain Set-Aside Program.
Producers who participate in the Wheat set-aside program can receive payment for grazing or haying wheat that was planted for harvest. The payment rate is .50 times the established wheat yield for the farm, times the acres on which the payment is made.
Producers who participate in the Feed Grain Set-Aside Program will receive a payment for diverting additional acreage equal to 10 per cent of their planted acreage. The acreage planted to feed grains (corn, barley, or grain sorghum) cannot exceed the 1977 plantings for the crop. Payment will be .20 for corn and .12 for barley and grain sorghum, times the farm established yield, times the actual acreage for harvest.
In all cases the wheat and feed grain acres cannot exceed the Normal Crop Acreage (NCA) for the farm.
