The Warren County Wildcats committed five errors, two of which were in the second inning, to spark the Panthers’ scoring early in the game on Saturday night, April 15. The two teams looked good and scored high, but Warren County emerged undefeated with a 6-0 slate in the Northwestern District.

The Panthers’ pitchers were Gary Leake, Roger Jenkins, Robert Payne and Chip Frye with starter Leake pitching two and two-thirds innings. Seven pitchers used by the two teams gave up 19 hits and 26 walks.

Regional

Olympics

The 1978 Regional Special Olympics have been scheduled for Saturday, April 22, from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Orange County High School in Orange.

Participants in the Special Olympics will be handicapped children from Rappahannock, Madison, Orange and Culpeper counties. The children will compete in a number of track and field events.

Celebrity host for this year’s regionals will be Cathy Baker, well-known for her appearances on the TV show "Hee Haw."

Parents, friends and the community are invited to attend.
