Oame kills in Rappahannock County for the 1978-79 hunting season are up almost double over kills in the previous year, according to county Game Warden Jim Bankston. ,_^

Bankston said he'd checked approximately 775 deer this year compared to 400 last season. Seven bear have been taken during the season with 15 turkeys killed. Last year, two bear and nihe wild turkeys were shot.

According to Bankston, most of the slain deer were in very good condition, averaging between 90 and 100 pounds dressed.
