Monday at Panorama on Route 211 an International tractor with a trailer jackknifed after skidding on ice at the mountaintop. Harold I. Purlett of Luray was driving the rig which jackknifed into the median and ruptured a saddle tank holding diesel fuel. The fuel ran down the highway and the services of a neighboring fire engine was needed to hose down the road followed by an application of sand by the Highway Department, said Baines. Damage was estimated at $800 to the outfit.
