The Republican minority will be regarding all this with an exterior of statesmanlike aplomb. Inwardly, they will probably be shaking with laughter.
If the Democrats do not deliver on needed spending legislation, they can be faulted for putting political considerations above the “genuine needs” of the people; if they do appropriate money requiring new taxes, they will become irrfesponsible spendthrifts.
For the GOP it’s the best of both worlds; for the Democrats it’s a damned if you do and damned if you don’t situation.
