At the January 3 meeting of the county supervisors. Sheriff Bunt in announced the resignation of Sergeant fton Hawkins, effective January 5. Hawkins’s departure follows those of deputies Martin Orfila and Carl Dewayne Bentley and corrections officer Dick Jenkins—all during 1978.

Beginning January 14. tots can hear their favorite tales at the Rappahannock County Library's story hour from 10:30 to 11:30 on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month.
Four expert story tellers will take turns reading selections aimed at children between the ages of three and seven. Older children are welcome to stay and listen but the library staff emphasized that stories with special appeal for little ones will be chosen. If the story hour is successful. it will be continued indefinitely and possibly expanded to every week should participation warrant.
