“Our attorney has given us added advice. In his opinion, the school board can charge for field trips but not for extra-curricular activities.” Bloomer said.
“If fuel costs continue to rise, we may be in serious trouble,” the superintendent continued. He noted that the fuel supplier for the school system's transportation fleet was currently receiving 100 percent of last year’s allocation. “So getting the gasoline is not a problem at this point,” he said.
