The letter from O. Gene Dishner noted that his department had received a number of complaints regarding the lack of building inspection here. According to Dishner, there’s been “virtually no enforcement of the code in the county.”
The Code of Virginia stipulates that enforcement of the Uniform Statewide Building Code (USBC) is the responsibility of the local building department and that a local board of building code appeals must be established.
