The 1980 session of the General Assembly will convene at noon on the second Wednesday in January, as required by the state Constitution. That will be Jan. 9, and it is a date that is marked and doublechecked in red in countless executive suites, public, private and corporate, around the state.
The up-coming legislature will be a “regular," or 60day, session. It will probably deal, favorably or unfavorably, with upwards of 2,000 bills and resolutions which will be dropped in the hopper by the 100 delegates and 40 senators who make up the body.
As always, the most important of these, and the most closely watched, will be the budget for the 1980-82
