The Rappahannock Education Association has some simple ideas for parents on helping their children develop reading skills:

Read to your children often. Try short exciting stories that capture their imaginations.

Let your children see you reading—books, magazines, the newspaper. They’ll get the idea that reading is enjoyable and opens up a world of useful information.
