According to the resident engineer, rebuilding the structure will cost between S30.000 and $40,000. He noted that the weight limit for the bridge will have to be increased from eight to 22 tons if it is rebuilt. “That means it will become a shortcut for all the tractortrailers,” he maintained.
If a decision is made to rebuild the bridge, “I don’t know when we’ll get to it,” Askew concluded. “We have other higher priority bridges that need work.”
