The court house benches overflowed last Thursday as approximately 50 county residents turned out for the board of supervisors’ hearing on Rappahannock’s six-year secondary road plan. One after another, for over two hours they marched up to the supervisors’ table to air their complaints. Some were agreeable — even apologetic—as they requested improvements. Others were a little unfriendly and a few were downright hostile.
While assuring citizens that as much as possible would be done, resident highway engineer Don Askew repeatedly emphasized that money was a key factor. “When improvements can be completed depends on the funding,” he stated again and again.
