For the first time in many years Rappahannock had 4H’ers participate in district and state events. With the expansion and development of 4-H leaders, the 4-H program has Strengthened.
Horse and Pony Clubs
Under the leadership of Jane Naramore and Mauri and Bill Payne of Amissville and Nina Beck of Sperryville our three Horse and Pony Gubs enabled members to learn how to manage the responsibility of owning a horse. The children learned how to feed and groom their horses.
The leaders used films and slides from VPI and SU, guest speakers, such as farrier Sheree Osborne, and trips to Rapidan River Horse Farm and the Upperville Show to teach their 4-H’ers a horse requires a lot of care and attention.
Aaron Schumaker from Jane Naramore’s club presented a demonstration at the District Demonstration Contest in April.
