According to Updike, 90 percent of'the cooperative's 9,000 customers were without power on Wednesday morning. “We' have 13 substations and eight of them were out. By mid-afternoon Wednesday, we had seven (all served by Vepco) restored. The eighth, in Madison County served by Pepco, didn’t come back on'the line until Thursday.”
Updike reported that' the last service was restored in Rappahannock County by 6 p.m. on Sunday. “We had one section in Amissville with 16 strands of wire down on the same line,” he reported. “This storm was more devastating than the ice storm we' had last year on
