Earlier in the meeting, McGarvey detailed the counseling program provided by the mental health clinic in coordination with the proposed school policy on drug and alcohol use.
The proposed policy stipulates ' that any student found using, possessing or distributing drugs or alcohol be required to attend counseling sessions with a parent before being readmitted to School after a twoweek suspension. Should'the student of his parents refuse to attend ' the sessions,' the suspension period will be lengthened to four weeks, under the proposed policy revisions.
McGarvey said the counseling will consist of four weekly one-hour sessions with the student and parents meeting with mental health clinic staff separately and together.
